XSERVE COLOCATION FAQ's You have questions? We have answers! Below are a few of the most commonly asked questions that we get regarding Xserve Colocation. At XServHosting we are the Xserve Colocation facility you can turn to. ............................................................................................................................................................................ How can I access my Xserve remotely? XServHosting offers Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) on every Xserve that is colocated with XServHosting. Besides using ARD you can use Timbuktu and OS X VNC Do I have physical access to my machine? Yes. For clients with 1/3, 1/2 and Full cabinet's you have unrestricted access 24/7 to your cabinet. For those who colocate their Xserve by the U, you have ESCORTED access during normal, non-holiday, business hours which are Monday - Friday 9AM - 4PM Pacific Time. After normal business hours and holiday hours access is on an emergency basis only. Weekends are by appointment unless it's an emergency. What if my Xserve needs servicing? If your Xserve needs servicing due to a part failure and you have Apple Care, you can call Apple Care and we will allow them access to your server. If you do not have Apple Care, XServHosting will take your Xserve to the nearest Apple Certified repair facility of your choice for a small delievery charge. There are several Apple Certified repair facilities within a 15 min radius of our data center (92614) including 4 Apple Stores ( Irvine, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Mission Viejo). Note that some of the Apple Certified facilities provide on site service. Remember that you are responsible for arraignment and payment of services with a Apple Certified repair facility. Am I limited to what software I can run on My Xserve? You can run pretty much anything except for the following. Any P2P software and/or application, IRC, Wares site, Illegal music and/or video download service and illegal pornography. Refer to our TOS for details What if I need to reboot my Xserve? We offer APC web based power recyclers. This optiional service will allow you to remotely power recycle your Xserve over the web. It is accessible from a password protected, web site. What if I am not able to access the web and my Xserve needs a reboot? No worries. Support is available 24/7 and reboots are free. Just call us! How many IP address am I allowed? You are allowed as many as you need based upon justification. If I want to colocate more then one Xserve do I have to buy additional bandwidth? No. With our advanced bandwidth monitoring and routing hardware you only need to by bandwidth for one Xserve. We can then set our bandwidth management utility to share your bandwidth among all your Xserves that you have colocated with us. ............................................................................................................................................................................
